About U17/U19

Here at Treasure Coast Rowing Club, we strive to bring the best out of each one of our youth rowers, while instilling leadership, work ethic, and the true meaning of teamwork.  With preparation for the next step of their life, we help each rower prepare for college opportunities that rowing may bring to them. Our rowers have received scholarships for rowing to Stanford University, Rutgers University, Jacksonville University, University of Central Florida, and many more.

The Under 17 (U17) age group have birth years of 2009- 2010 and the Under 19 (U19) age group have birth years of 2004 - 2008. Both groups meet 5 times per week and they will attend all regattas. In the Spring both teams will compete at the Florida Scholastic Rowing Association Sweep and Sculling State Championships in April and in May will compete at the USRowing Southeast Youth Championship to try and qualify for the National Championship.

This is the regatta schedule and hotel booking link google doc.

Members of the Under 17/19 teams should expect to learn or advance:

 - Basic sculling and sweep techniques

 - Strength conditioning, mobility and flexibility - Olympic lifts including preparations in a progressive plan

 - Erging on the Concept2 rowing machine - focus on 2000 meter time for college recruitment

 - Leadership and teamwork

 - Work ethic
